Description
Allen Meadows: The nose is still dominated by the aromas of new
wood and it distorts the otherwise spicy if ever-so-slightly
vegetal aromas of red berry fruit. There is good verve if only
moderate complexity to the light to medium-weight flavors that
culminate in a mildly edgy finish. This is certainly drinkable but
it helps if you enjoy wood. Engel mentioned at the time that he had
left over new barrels because of the extremely short 2003 crop and
unfortunately it led to over oaking the 2004 wines.
