Lisa Perrotti-Brown: Very deep purple-black in color, the 2012Magill Estate Shiraz is made with 100% estate fruit and is aged 15months in 65% new French oak and 30% new American oak and 5% in oneyear old American oak hogsheads (for a total of 95% new oak). Thenose opens to aromas of warm blackberries and black cherries – verypure fruit scents – plus plenty of cedar, cloves and a lovelyspiciness of Sichuan pepper. Taut, vibrant and expressive with atouch of vanilla coming through on the palate, this medium-bodiedShiraz has firm and grainy tannins and a long, lively finish.
