Allen Meadows: Noticeable wood adds nuance to the otherwise fresh,
earthy and relatively somber plum and red pinot fruit where notes
of anise, underbrush and a hint of animale are also present. The
big and well-muscled flavors possess fine concentration and a
seductive texture on the brooding and youthfully austere finish
that is not only very firmly structured and generously wooded but
delivers outstanding length. This is a powerful wine in the context
of the vintage and one that will need plenty of cellar time to be
at its best.
