Jeb Dunnuck: Moving to the Cote Roties, the 2012 Cote Rotie, whichwas tasted from multiple barrels, shows the vintage beautifully,with the hallmark complexity of the estate, as well as plenty ofpure fruit and texture on the palate. All of the samples shownotions of olive tapenade, white pepper, tobacco and herbs tovarying degrees, and it should end up being a medium tofull-bodied, nicely textured effort that will be reasonablyapproachable on release, yet evolve gracefully.Another bastillion of traditional winemaking, Jean-Paul Jametfashions two Cote Roties from his roughly 17 acres of vines,located mostly on the schist soils in the northern part of theappellation. The winemaking here includes very little destemming,pump overs as opposed to punch downs, and aging in a combination ofdemi-muid and barrel, with roughly 15% new.
