Allen Meadows: This is slightly riper than the Grands Ech but like
all of these '03s, it avoids undue ripeness as there are no roasted
or stewed notes though to be sure, there is no mistaking that this
is from 2003. The expressive and wonderfully spicy black and blue
berry aromas complement perfectly the rich, muscular and powerful
flavors that are impressively concentrated and just ooze pinot sap
that drenches and stains the palate. This is a big wine and if
somewhat atypical, it's no less a wine for it.
