Allen Meadows: Here too the wood influence is far from subtle but
even so it manages to avoid dominating the naturally spicy red
currant, plum and violet suffused aromas. There is also a mild
touch of toast on the detailed and solidly concentrated and
well-detailed flavors that possess a controlled sense of power on
the focused, linear and impressively persistent finish. This
moderately structured effort should also reward 12 to 15 years of
cellar time and while it is definitely toastier than I prefer, it
is flat out gorgeously long.
